SAP MIDDLEWARE

Integration of IT-Systems into an existing and historically grown system landscape is a common requirement in a business world that is increasingly driven by digitization, mergers and acquisitions as well as latest trends like cloud computing.

The idea of implementing a middleware as integration platform, which enables integration of SAP and non-SAP systems within and across company borders, ensuring smooth and consistent business processes, addresses all the requirements of a modern Enterprise Application Integration (EAI).

SAP Cloud Platform Integration

SAP Cloud Integration supports end-to-end process integration by enabling you to access and manage entities that are relevant when developing and executing an integration scenario. It provides a core runtime for processing, transformation, and routing of messages to be exchanged between the involved systems. Various options are there to connect (Cloud Integration) to different systems through protocols such like HTTP(S), SFTP, and OData (for example). A Web environment allows integration experts to model and design integration scenarios as well as to monitor those at runtime. Furthermore, you can access the integration service through an application programming interface(API).

Message processing at runtime is performed by a cluster of virtual machines running on SAP Business Technology Platform. Here, the platform ensures that data related to different customers connected to Cloud Integration is isolated. This is important, for example, when using Cloud Integration for business-to-business scenarios. Various features such as content encryption and certificate - based communication allow you to make sure that data processed by Cloud Integration is protected to a maximum level. For more information, check out the SAP Cloud Integration product documentation on SAP Help Portal. This API is implemented based on OData version 2 specification.

Benefits of Cloud Platform Integration

With the increasing complexity of modern IT landscapes, integrating diverse applications and systems can be challenging. CPI simplifies this process by offering a unified platform that supports various integration scenarios, protocols, and data formats. It allows for the seamless exchange of data across systems, eliminating manual data entry and reducing errors.

CPI ensures smooth data flow and real-time information synchronization between different business systems, such as ERP, CRM, HR, and external systems. This facilitates accurate reporting, enables better decision-making, and enhances overall operational efficiency

CPI allows companies to adapt and scale their integration requirements as their business evolves. It supports both cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-on-premises integrations, accommodating hybrid landscapes. The platform provides a range of adapters and connectors to connect with various systems, ensuring compatibility with existing IT infrastructure.
